2018 Property Rights Candidates

Tom McInnis – SD 25

Senator McInnis is a strong proponent of property rights and fights for North Carolinians. In 2016, Senator McInnis introduced a bill entitled “Prevent Squatting in Foreclosed Real Property” to do just that.
Vickie Sawyer – SD 34

Sawyer, along with her husband, own Sawyer Insurance & Financial Services, a small business they began together in Mooresville in 2002. She serves as treasurer for the Iredell County Republican Party, chairman of the Board for Iredell County Crosby Scholars and is a member of the Iredell County Planning Board. She was the past representative of the Iredell County Republican Party to the 9th Congressional District, served on the Iredell County School Facilities Task Force, co-chaired the successful 2014 school bond referendum committee and president of Lakeshore Elementary and Middle School Parent Teach Organizations. Sawyer also has been active as a youth and women’s softball coach and is a trustee of her church, Rocky Mount United Methodist.
Ben Clark – SD 21

Clark earned his B.S. in industrial technology from North Carolina A & T State University in 1981 and his MBA from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Clark has been an assistant professor of aerospace studies at North Carolina A & T State University. He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, including stints as a radio spectrum manager and operations manager.
Frank Iler – HD 17

Iler earned his B.A. in business from Campbell University. His professional experience includes working as an accountant and business owner prior to retirement.
Ted Davis Jr. – HD 19

Davis Jr. introduced HB 151 which helped protect the Real Estate Broker in vacation rental transactions across North Carolina. Rep. Davis is a licensed attorney. 
Jon Hardister – HD 59

Jon Hardister is a graduate of Greensboro College and resident of Greensboro, NC. In the House, Rep. Hardister has worked to ensure competitive taxes, reduced regulations, and workforce retraining.
Jay Adams – HD 96

Adams earned his B.S. in education from the Citadel. His professional experience includes working as a real estate broker, for SIECOR as a Technical Communications Specialist and for Deville Furniture. Adams currently serves on the City of Hickory's Brownfield Advisory Group. He has served on numerous boards and committees in the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce, the Western Piedmont Council of Governments and the City of Hickory. Furthermore, Rep. Adams has engaged with members of the public through town halls in his district.
Jason Saine – HD 97

Rep. Saine has been awarded “Clean Energy Champion” by the Lincoln Economic Development Association; “Representative of the Year” by the Children’s Advocacy Centers of North Carolina; and, “Defender of Public Safety” by the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association. 
Kelly Hastings – HD 110

Hastings earned his bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University. He later earned a graduate certificate in teaching at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. His professional experience includes working as a realtor. 
Amos Quick – HD 58

Representative Quick served on the Guilford County School Board, where he helped secure a grant that offered graduating seniors the opportunity to attend college on a full scholarship. Since being elected to the state house in 2016, Rep. Quick has focused on reinvesting in Guilford County and supporting education. 
Carla Cunningham – HD 106

Rep. Cunningham was elected to the house in 2012, wherein she serves on prestigious committees such as Appropriations, Commerce and Job Development, Energy and Public Utilities, and Health Care Reform.
